Fulbari, 30th May: A wave of joy and panic struck Fulbari’s Rajiv Para locality after Jatin Barman, a local cook, briefly lost a lottery ticket worth ₹1 crore, only to recover it a few hours later.
According to reports, Jatin Barman, a resident of Rajiv Para in the Canal More area under Fulbari II Gram Panchayat, had purchased a lottery ticket worth ₹90 on 27th May from a counter near his house. Later that evening, he discovered that his ticket had won the first prize of ₹1 crore.
However, while on his way to the New Jalpaiguri police station with the winning ticket on Thursday, Jatin accidentally dropped it. Heartbroken, he frantically searched for the lost ticket, fearing his dreams had slipped away.
Fortunately, within a few hours, a friend spotted the ticket lying by the roadside near Jatin’s house and returned it. Without delay, Jatin proceeded to the NJP police station with the recovered ticket.
His family, once in despair, is now overwhelmed with joy. Speaking to reporters, Jatin said he had never imagined such fortune would come his way. Having worked hard for years to support his family, he expressed that it felt like a divine reward after a lifetime of hardship.
