From Bihar to Cooch Behar: 70 Migrant laborers leave for home amid lockdown 3.0

Rajganj, 07th May: With no means of earning a living, 70 migrant laborers, including women and children, set off on a long walk back to their homes in Cooch Behar, Wednesday evening. Reportedly, the group reached the Fulbari area Thursday afternoon.


The laborers stated that they are residents of Cooch Behar and went to the Bihar border area around six months ago. After the nation-wide lockdown was imposed, they could not return home. They maintained that they were struggling each day to cope up with the fight against the pandemic and were facing a shortage of food. With no other choice left, they then decided to walk back home. The laborers further acknowledged the ones who provided them with food and drinking water in their journey.

Various reports have emerged regarding many migrant laborers who have been stranded in various districts due to the lockdown. They, along with their family members, have also set off an on a walk back to their homes in Assam. Some have also been spotted traveling on bicycles and vans.
