Four arrested in railway quarter theft case in Siliguri

Siliguri, 24th March: In connection with a theft at railway quarters near Hashmi Chowk, the undercover cops of Siliguri police station and Panitanki Outpost have arrested four accused.


The incident took place on March 20, and a written complaint was lodged at Panitanki Outpost. Based on the complaint, police launched an investigation and first arrested Pritam Hela, a resident of Bagrakote.

Following his court appearance, he was taken on remand, during which interrogation led to the identification of three more individuals involved in the theft.


Subsequently, police arrested Mohammad Chottu, a resident of Tulsinagar, Matigara. According to officials, the stolen goods were in Chottu’s possession, and during questioning, he revealed that he had sold them to Azimiya Begum from the Coal Depot area and Habibur Rahman from Tikia Para.

Acting on this information, Siliguri police arrested Azimiya Begum and Habibur Rahman and recovered the stolen items. All four accused were presented in Siliguri court on Monday as further investigations continue.
