Forensic expert team to investigate the alleged murder of a woman from Siliguri Majhabari

Siliguri, 19th August: Sensation prevailed after a woman, identified as Lalita Poddar (20), from the Siliguri Majhabari area was found dead in her house on Sunday. Her family members alleged that their daughter was murdered by her in-laws.


Following this, a team of forensic experts has started an investigation in this regard.

Reportedly, a two-member forensic expert team from North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, IC Sujoy Tunga of Bhaktinagar Police Station, and OC of Ashighar Outpost Partha Sarathi Das visited the deceased’s in-laws house on Wednesday and collected several samples from the spot.


It is to recall that the death of a housewife from the aforementioned area created a stir in the entire region. After the incident, the family of the deceased vandalized her in-laws’ house. The Bhaktinagar police and Ashighar Outpost police reached the spot as soon as the news was received.

Currently, three members of the woman’s in-laws have been taken into custody. Meanwhile, Ram Prasad Poddar, Lalita’s husband, is absconding since the incident.
