Siliguri, 02nd September: Police arrested five people with liquor worth lakhs of rupees in their possession before smuggling them into Bihar. The alleged accused have been identified as Sanjit Mukhia, Avikant Kumar, Avinash Kumar, Pradeep Yadav, and Ranjit Kumar Pathak.
Reportedly, the police stopped a four-wheeler from Bihar during checking at the Phansidewa Bidhannagar Murliganj check post late Thursday night. Upon searching the said vehicle, a huge quantity of liquor was recovered from it.
According to police sources, the alleged smugglers had planned to smuggle the liquor from Bengal and sell it in Bihar at a high price. The arrested accused have been produced in the Siliguri Divisional Court today.
