EVMs locked in strong room, kept under the vigilance of central forces in Siliguri

Siliguri, 27th April: Following the completion of voting, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) have been safely stored in the strong room under the vigilant watch of central forces until June 4. The strong room, located at Siliguri College, serves as the repository for EVMs from the Darjeeling Lok Sabha constituency.

Reportedly, on Saturday morning, Darjeeling District Magistrate Preeti Goyal, along with senior police officers from Siliguri Police Commissionerate, department officials, Block Development Officers (BDOs), supervisors, and party agents, conducted a meticulous scrutiny process. Notably, no issues or complaints were raised by representatives of the ruling Trinamool Congress.

However, agents of the BJP candidate lodged several complaints, which were thoroughly examined before sealing the EVMs in the strong room.

Significantly, the central forces would remain stationed to ensure the security and integrity of the electoral equipment until the designated date.
