Elephant carcass recovered at Panbari in Alipurduar district

Alipurduar, 22nd April: Sensation prevailed after an elephant carcass was recovered at Panbari in Alipurduar district. The locals sighted the carcass around 6 am on Thursday. Following which, the incident was reported to the forest department.


According to local sources, a herd of elephants rampaged through the Panbari area on Wednesday night. On Thursday morning, the herd was returning to the forest, during which, one of the elephant slipped, fell and died on the spot. It was later learned that the elephant was pregnant. The forest officials have initiated an investigation into the incident.
