Siliguri, 02nd August: The Eastern Himalaya Travel & Tour Operators’ Association (EHTTOA) constituted its new executive committee for the 2026–2028 term during its biennial general meeting held on Sunday.
According to reports, a 17-member governing body was elected in the presence of the association’s members. Debasish Maitra was elected as President. The other office bearers include Senior Vice-President Susmit Dutta, Vice-President Rajib Sinha, Secretary Sandipan Ghosh, Joint Secretary Rajesh Kithania, Treasurer Kumar Lama, Coordinator Anil Kumar Kansobanic, and Advisor Suresh Thakuri.
Established in 2002, EHTTOA has grown into one of the largest tourism organizations in Eastern and North-Eastern India. The association has over 350 active members from West Bengal, Sikkim, the seven North-Eastern states, as well as Nepal and Bangladesh, and works towards the promotion and development of the tourism sector. During the meeting, several organizations and individuals were felicitated for their contributions to the industry.
An important highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between EHTTOA and the North Bengal Tourist Transport Operators’ Association (NBTTOA) to strengthen cooperation and improve tourism and transport infrastructure in the region.
The association also announced a contribution of ₹1 lakh towards Assam flood relief. The amount will be handed over to the West Bengal Chief Minister’s Relief Fund through Tourism Minister Dr. Shankar Ghosh and will subsequently be transferred to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
