Siliguri, 04th February: The Excise Department (ED) raided a bar in a shopping mall in Matigara, Siliguri, and recovered a substantial amount of illegal liquor. The incident led to the arrest of bar manager Pujan Lohar (38).
According to reports, the ED was alerted that liquor from Sikkim, Bhutan, and Army Canteen was illegally marketed at the bar in the shopping centre. Acting on the tip-off, the ED conducted a raid on Thursday night and recovered over 100 litres of illegal liquor worth an estimated market value of Rs 3 lakhs.
Subsequently, the ED arrested the bar manager and is currently attempting to bring the bar owner under legal ambit. On Sunday, the arrested manager has been produced in Siliguri court. At present, the ED is probing the entire affair.
