Drugs worth Rs 100 crore and 444 arrests made by Siliguri Metropolitan Police in a year and a half

Siliguri, 27th July: In the last one and a half years, the DD and SOG of Siliguri Metropolitan Police under the ‘Say No to Drugs’ campaign have successfully seized illegal narcotics worth Rs 100 crore, registered 253 NDPS cases and have put 444 drug peddlers behind the bars.


The aforementioned information was conveyed by DCP Kunwar Bhushan Singh through a press conference at the office of DCP HQR Mallaguri, Siliguri Police Commissionerate. He further maintained that on Tuesday, once again the police of SOG and Bagdogra police seized 2 kg 276 grams of brown sugar worth 4 crore 40 lakh rupees by conducting a joint operation.

Likewise, the peddler Chandan Kumar has been taken into custody and was presented in the Siliguri court today after registering a case under the NDPS Act. The police will also demand the remand of the accused from the court to investigate the matter further, he further added.
