Siliguri, 20th July: The Pradhan Nagar police station successfully apprehended a drug peddler, identified as Padam Pradhan, with the assistance of vigilant locals last night. Padam, a resident of Naxalbari, was found in possession of a significant quantity of banned cough syrup when he was taken into custody.
The incident unfolded when Padam arrived at Siliguri State Guest House More last night, using a car borrowed from a friend, to deliver the illicit cough syrup. However, the locals grew suspicious and upon realizing that he was being watched, Padam attempted to flee the scene in the car.
Undeterred, the locals took up the pursuit and managed to intercept Padam near the Samar Nagar auto stand. They immediately informed the Pradhan Nagar police station about the situation. The police responded promptly, arriving at the location to thoroughly search the suspect’s car. During the search, police found a considerable quantity of the banned cough syrup inside the vehicle. Padam was taken into custody under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He was produced before the Siliguri court today.
