DRI arrested two with gold biscuits worth crores in Raiganj

Siliguri, 18th September: DRI has once again succeeded in seizing and recovering gold ahead of the pujas. It is to be noted that for the last month, the DRI has recovered gold worth crores of rupees by hindering the gold smuggling racket in a systematic manner. At the same time, many smugglers have also been arrested in regard to the said case so far. Once again, DRI has been successful in nabbing two smugglers with gold worth crores of rupees. The accused have been identified as Mrinal Ali Mandal (42) and Chintu Ghosh (38). Both are said to be residents of South Dinajpur.


Reportedly, the DRI team had received a tip-off about the said gold which was going to be smuggled into Siliguri through a private vehicle from South Dinajpur. Based on the tip, the DRI team stopped a vehicle coming at Siliguri More in Raiganj.

Upon searching, a total of 43 pieces of gold biscuits were recovered from a chamber in the vehicle whose market value is estimated to be more than Rs 2 crores. Along with the recovery of the gold two smugglers were also arrested in the said case. Today both the accused have been produced in the Siliguri court.
