DRI arrest two Myanmar nationals with gold worth Rs 2 crore in Siliguri

Siliguri, 05th September: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) team arrested two people who were trying to smuggle  4.814 kg of gold biscuits concealed in their footwear. The smugglers were arrested from Siliguri Junction. They have been named as Tlangmuanthanga (27) and Dal Suan Khai (22). Both are said to be residents of Kalaymyo, Myanmar.


According to the information, the duo arrived at Siliguri from Assam via the Indo-Myanmar border. They were trying to travel to another state by bus from Siliguri. However, they were nabbed by the DRI team just in time. 

Upon searching, a total of 29 pieces of gold biscuits were recovered from their possession. Whose market value has been estimated as Rs 2 crore 42 lakh 99 thousand 628. The DRI today produced both the accused in the Siliguri court. The judge rejected the bail plea of ​​the accused and directed them to be kept in judicial custody for 14 days.
