Cooch Behar, 14th July: Due to no power supply for the past two days, locals staged a protest by blocking the state highway from Deocharai in the Tufanganj subdivision to Dinhata.
Allegedly, the power transformer near Kaljani Bridge of Deocharai Gram Panchayat in Tufanganj Block No. 01 has been damaged. Despite reporting the matter to the power department, no steps have been taken so far. Hence, they protested today.
Upon receiving this news, the Tufanganj police reached the spot and took stock of the situation. However, they warned to stage larger demonstrations if the transformer is not fixed at the earliest.
