Deshbandhupara Himachal Sangha Club stepped forward to help an elderly woman reach home

Siliguri, 27th May: After learning about the helpless situation of an elderly woman amid the ongoing lockdown, the members of Deshbandhupara Himachal Sangha Club, on Wednesday, rushed to her rescue and made arrangements to send her home. Ration and financial aid were also provided to her.


As per the report, charges had been raised against Moumita Mandal, a professor of Siliguri College, and her husband Anirban Sarkar for harassing the elderly woman who worked as their domestic helper. With no other choice left, the elderly woman, on Monday, ran away from the house to protect herself and took shelter at Himachal Club. She then informed the entire incident to the club members.

Upon receiving the news, the club members as well as the Siliguri police reached the spot shortly after and detained Anirban Sarkar. But was later released after he assured of providing the pending wages of the woman


Meanwhile, the elderly woman reached home on Wednesday with the assistance of few social activists and the Himachal Sangha Club members.
