Siliguri, 08th August: Siliguri Municipal Corporation observed Rabindranath Tagore’s death anniversary in Baghajatin Park. Siliguri Municipal Corporation Mayor Goutam Deb, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, Mayor-Council, Councillors, and others paid tribute to the renowned poet by offering garlands on the statue.
Other organizations were seen observing the death anniversary of Tagore through different programs. Furthermore, Siliguri’s MLA Shankar Ghosh also paid respect by paying floral tributes at the statue of the poet Rabindranath Tagore in Baghajatin Park.
Mayor Goutam Deb said that they got approval from the government to build a sculpture of Tagore before the 22nd Sawan. He added that very soon they will unveil the full sculpture of Rabindranath Tagore at Mahatma Gandhi More. The sculpt is said to be made by the famous sculptor of Kolkata.
