Siliguri, 18th August: A deadly road accident took place in Siliguri Eastern Bypass leaving a man seriously injured. The injured person has been identified as Dharmendra Roy, a resident of Block B of Suryasen Colony of Ward No. 38 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation.
Reportedly, Dharmendra Roy was on his way to Jaleshwari Bazar from Ashighar More on Wednesday night in a scooty. While on his way, he was hit by a 12-wheeler lorry from behind. The accident gravely injured him and also damaged his scooty severely. The locals rescued Dharmendra and rushed him to Siliguri District Hospital, from where he was referred to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital.
On receiving the information about the incident, the police of Ashighar outpost reached the spot shortly and took the lorry into their possession. Locals alleged that due to lack of street lights in the area such accidents have become prone on the road.
