Siliguri, 25th February: The cops of DD and Matigara police station arrested a youth and foiled the plan of smuggling brown sugar. The said incident has surfaced near Shiv Mandir B.Ed College. The arrested youth has been identified as Bablu Barman (28), a resident of Rai Para in Naxalbari.
Reportedly, the youth reached the area on Saturday evening with a scooty number (WB 74BJ6909) to trade the drugs. Acting on a tip-off, police of DD and Matigara police launched a campaign and caught the scooty driver. On searching the youth, a packet containing 180 grams of brown sugar was recovered
After this, Bablu Barman was arrested and a case under the NDPS Act was registered against him. Thereafter, in the presence of the Executive Magistrate, 180 grams of brown sugar recovered was seized. The arrested youth will be produced in Siliguri court on Sunday.
