CPI(M) took to the road alleging failure of Siliguri Municipal Corporation to control outbreak of dengue 

Siliguri, 21st October: The Darjeeling district CPI(M) took to the streets, accusing the Siliguri Municipal Corporation of failing to control dengue. Today, under the aegis of CPI(M)’s Darjeeling District Committee, a protest rally was organized, which was led by Left leader Ashok Bhattacharya and District Secretary Saman Pathak. 


They accused the mayor of SMC of failing to control dengue. Apart from this, CPIM leader Ashok Bhattacharya strongly opposed the incident of Karunamayi. Meanwhile, a huge police corps was deployed to prevent any chaos during the CPM’s municipal campaign. As soon as the rally reached in front of the SMC, the police stopped the rally. After this Ashok Bhattacharya, Saman Pathak, and other Left leaders demonstrated a sit-in protest on the road. 

Left leader Ashok Bhattacharya said that the mayor should take responsibility for those who died of dengue. He further alleged that the city’s mayor has failed to tackle dengue and should resign at the earliest.
