Siliguri, 30th June: The CPI(M) staged a protest march to the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Tuesday, raising 11 demands over worsening problems in the city.
The protest march began from Anil Biswas Bhawan and proceeded towards the SMC office.
As the rally reached the municipal gate, police stopped the protesters. Later, a five-member delegation met the Municipal Commissioner and submitted a memorandum highlighting their 11-point charter of demands.
A street corner meeting was also held, where leaders raised various problems in the city and demanded immediate resolution.
The CPI(M) alleged that several areas are facing severe waterlogging, garbage accumulation, poor road conditions, and a failing drainage system. They warned that if these issues are not addressed soon, a larger movement will be launched in the coming days.
