COVID-19 treatment likely to be introduced in the nursing homes of Siliguri

Siliguri, 01st June: The State Tourism Minister Goutam Deb, on Monday, held a discussion with Darjeeling District DM S. Ponnambalam in view of the pandemic.


Addressing the media later, the Minister stated that 20 more beds have been added to the Matigara COVID Hospital. So far there were 100 beds in the hospital. Another COVID Hospital is being set up in Tribeni (Triveni) under the GTA area. Besides, isolation wards may also be set up in different nursing homes to treat COVID-19 patients. The DM will soon hold a meeting in this regard with the nursing home authorities. If the nursing homes agree, patients can undergo treatment either by payment or insurance.

Meanwhile, the Minister informed that the Desun Hospital in Kawakhali will not be converted into a COVID Hospital as of now.
