Siliguri, 30th October: On Monday, Shalini Dalmia, the councilor of Ward No. 8, brought in a motion regarding illegal construction at the 21st board meeting of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC).
As per reports, Councillor Shalini Dalmia had alerted the Municipal Corporation officials, several times, regarding illegal construction in various areas of the ward. Allegedly, no survey has been conducted by the Municipal Corporation yet, in this regard. Consequently, illegal construction is on the rise. This prompted the Councillor to present a motion proposal today.
In this regard, Mayor Goutam Deb stated that all the motions and resolutions brought forward on this day are being considered. He added that action will be taken against illegal construction. Furthermore, he stated that in circumstances of not abiding by the rules, action will be taken against the negligent officer.
