Controversy over tearing of flag and festoon, BJP and TMC supporters clashes in Tufanganj

Cooch Behar, 26th February: Tension gripped the Tufanganj’s Devacharai area over the incident of tearing party flags. In a demonstration against the incident, the TMC protested today by blocking the national highway connecting Assam-Bengal. Meanwhile, BJP workers and supporters reached the location too. Due to this, a tussle started between both sides. A huge police force from Tufanganj police station reached the spot to handle the situation. Later Trinamool Congress workers removed the blockade. 


On the one hand, TMC workers accused BJP of tearing the party flag and festoon in front of the TMC party office adjacent to Devacharai More on Saturday night. Meanwhile, BJP alleged that a volleyball tournament was organized under the auspices of MLA Mihir Goswami in Chilakhana No. 2 gram panchayat of Natabari. They alleged TMC workers of creating chaos to stop the said tournament from happening.

Trinamool’s Tufanganj No. 1 block president Manoj Verma alleged that the BJP people tore party flags and festoons in front of them. A written complaint has been lodged at the police station in this regard. At the same time, Mihir Goswami, MLA of Natabari assembly, said that a volleyball tournament has been organized and accused TMC of trying to spoil the tournament. He denied all accusations of TMC.
