Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary visits family of Matigara student, criticizes state’s women safety record

Siliguri, 02nd September: Congress leader and Member of Parliament, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary, visited the family of the deceased girl student in Matigara, accompanied by Darjeeling District President Shankar Malakar. During the visit, Chowdhary expressed condolences to the victim’s family and assured them of all possible assistance. He used this occasion to launch a scathing critique against the state’s Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee.


Chowdhary alleged that Bengal, under Mamata Banerjee’s leadership, has witnessed an alarming increase in violence against women. He claimed that the state ranks first in terms of atrocities on women, a situation he attributes to the governance under Mamata Banerjee’s leadership. According to him, incidents of torture, murder, and rape against women have become widespread, spanning from the coastal areas to the mountainous regions of the state.
