Siliguri, 04th August: Siliguri Congress took a rally out in demand of making Siliguri, a separate district. The rally started from Hashmi Chowk and ended at the same spot after marching through the roads of Sevoke More and Hill Cart Road.
In this context, Darjeeling District Congress President Shankar Malakar stated that while the state added seven new districts, Siliguri was left deprived of the benefits. The demand for a separate district of Siliguri has not been paid any heed to despite raising the matter multiple times, the leader alleged.
