Congress, CPI(M) to contest Vidhan Sabha and Sub-Divisional Council polls together

Siliguri, 31st December: The Congress and the Left Front jointly, on Thursday, submitted a memorandum to SDO Priyadarshini S demanding the immediate elections in all corporations, municipalities, and sub-divisional councils of the state including Siliguri.


The Congress and the Left Front have decided to contest the Vidhan Sabha polls and Sub-Divisional Council elections together. Hence, Shankar Malakar and Ashok Bhattacharya are already being seen participating in various programmes. The two parties have issued a memorandum demanding elections to be held immediately.


Reportedly, the two parties have also planned to hold a public meeting in Siliguri in January. During a programme on Thursday, Ashok Bhattacharya and Shankar Malakar took a jibe at TMC and stated that the ruling party of the state does not want to hold elections in corporations and municipalities in fear of defeat.

On the other hand, Darjeeling district Trinamool Congress president Ranjan Sarkar, disregarding allegations, said that Congress and Left Front do not hold any value across the country.
