Congress candidate Amitava Sarkar intensifies poll campaign in Naxalbari

Naxalbari, 11th April: Congress candidate Amitava Sarkar from the Matigara–Naxalbari Assembly constituency intensified his election campaign on Saturday, reaching out to traders and customers at Naxalbari Hat and seeking their support ahead of the polls.

During the campaign, Sarkar held a brief courtesy meeting with CPI(M) candidate Jharen Roy. The two leaders exchanged greetings, reflecting a gesture of political civility.

The Congress candidate also conducted an extensive outreach from Ghatani More through Totaram to Babupara, appealing to voters throughout the day. He stated that his campaign focuses on key issues such as healthcare, education, and employment.

Sarkar expressed confidence in the Congress party’s prospects, asserting that it is contesting all 294 Assembly seats. He further noted that the Matigara–Naxalbari seat was previously held by the Congress and voiced optimism that the party would reclaim it by defeating its rivals in the upcoming election.
