Fulbari, 14th September: In a tragic incident, a child fell into a water-filled pit dug for four-lane construction work in the Paschim Dhantala area of Fulbari and was rescued in an injured condition before being taken to hospital. The incident has caused concern in the area.
According to information, a woman from the locality had come to collect soil, accompanied by her young daughter, Pakhi Biswas. After collecting the soil, the woman returned home while the child remained at the spot.
The child reportedly fell into water accumulated inside a pit dug for the construction work while playing nearby. When her mother could not find her, she began searching for her and later raised an alarm after failing to locate her at the spot.
Hearing her cries, construction workers working nearby rushed to the area. They quickly entered the pit and rescued the child from the water. The workers claimed that the child was breathing at the time of the rescue.
The child was immediately taken to a private hospital in Fulbari. After receiving initial treatment, she was referred to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for further treatment.
The child, identified as Pakhi Biswas, is currently undergoing treatment at NBMCH.
