BJP’s ‘Chor Dharo Jail Bharo’ campaign in Siliguri, fierce tussles between BJP activists and police force

Siliguri, 24th August: A huge gathering showed up after a rally under ‘Chor Dharo Jail Bharo’ campaign was called for by the Siliguri Organizational BJP today. The rally started from the Gandhi Chowk and marched to SDO Office under the said program against rampant corruption of the West Bengal Government. 


A huge police force was deployed to stop the BJP rally before the SDO Office. A fierce scuffle arose when the BJP workers were stopped by the police force before the rally reached the office. Shortly after, the police took some of the BJP workers into their custody. The BJP started a sit-in protest in front of the SDO office demanding the release of the workers. 

BJP workers in the rally said that ‘Chor Dharo Jail Bharo’ campaign was done against the corruption existing in the state government. In protest against the unscrupulous state government, they reached the SDO office where they were stopped by the police who arrested many activists. They also added that there will be a massive agitation the next day as they were stopped by the police force today.
