Naxalbari, 15th February: BJP Panchayat member of Maniram Gram Panchayat under Naxalbari block Augustina Oraon has resigned from her post. It is reported, that she has resigned due to family and personal reasons.
On the other hand, BJP leader of Maniram Gram Panchayat Pinky Kar said that Augustina has resigned due to the pressure of the ruling party. She further added that a few days ago, Augustina’s house was set on fire, and stones were pelted targeting the house. Stating this, she said that the panchayat members got afraid and resigned.
On the other hand, Maniram Gram Panchayat head and TMC leader Gautam Ghosh counter-accused the BJP of being responsible for Oraon’s resignation. He claimed that two more panchayat members of BJP are in contact with TMC. He further added that the TMC will continue the development work in the area.
On the other hand, BDO Arindam Mandal said that he has received the resignation letter of the BJP panchayat member. After which the information of the matter has been given to the District Magistrate.
