BJP organized a protest rally with the slogan ‘Dengue Mukt Siliguri Chai’, submitted memorandum to SMC

Siliguri, 23rd September: The Siliguri Organizational District Committee of the BJP took out a protest rally with mosquito nets under slogans like ‘Dengue Free Siliguri Chai’. Apart from this, they have also submitted a memorandum to the SMC commissioner. Today the said rally commenced from Siliguri Kanchenjunga Stadium and rallied through different areas of the city.

After this, the activists-supporters protested in front of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation. A huge police corps was deployed in the municipal corporation to keep the protest rally under check. Also, barricades were put up at the main gate of SMC. Apart from protesting, BJP councillors including Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh, Matigara-Naxalbari MLA Anandamoy Barman, and Phansidewa MLA Durga Murmu submitted a memorandum to the Siliguri Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sonam Wangdi Bhutia in support of many demands including containing dengue.

On this occasion, Matigara-Naxalbari MLA Anandmoy Barman said that at present the health system of the state has deteriorated from bad to worse. Officials of SMC are currently busy with the Durga Puja Carnival and no heed is being paid to the prevention of dengue, which is a much bigger concern in the city, he alleged. Only then will the festive season be even better in the coming days if the city could contain the spread of the disease. He further stated that their demand of preventing the disease should be met instead of stopping their protest.
