Baul artist Swapan Dutta raises voter awareness in Siliguri

Siliguri, 23rd April: Swapan Dutta, a President’s Award winning Baul Artist arrived at Siliguri to spread awareness among voters for peaceful polls. The artist is a resident of Purba Bardhaman and has been travelling in several districts with a unique initiative.


It is to be noted that, the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections would be conducted on April 26 in Darjeeling and other constituencies.

On Tuesday, Artist Swapan Dutta extended awareness on the streets of the city through Baul songs. During this, he stated that every single vote is precious and one must exercise his power correctly.


Dutta visited several residences and streets to explain the importance of voting. Significantly, the artist has been single-handedly carrying forward the initiative in several Lok Sabha constituencies.

Speaking to the media, Artist Swapan Dutta stated that he has been travelling in several districts to spread awareness regarding the importance of voting. He added that he received tremendous response from the voters. Furthermore, he stated that the voters should exercise their franchise peacefully early in the morning.

The statement came in response to complaints of rigged voting and unrest during the first phase of polls from various locations. As a result, several individuals refrained from voting. The artist’s initiative is to inculcate awareness among the eligible citizens.
