Bag with ₹30 lakh worth of jewellery snatched from gold trader in Siliguri

Siliguri, 29th July: In a shocking display of lawlessness, unidentified miscreants snatched a bag containing gold and silver jewellery worth nearly ₹30 lakh from a gold trader near Matigara police station.

The trader, Kush Barman, who owns a jewellery shop nearby, was preparing to head home on Monday night around 9 p.m. After placing a bag filled with ornaments on his scooter, he was locking his shop when two bike-borne snatchers suddenly approached from behind and took off with the bag.

Barman immediately rushed to the police station and informed the authorities. He expressed concern over the incident, stating that such a daring snatching in front of a police station raises serious questions about the state of local security.

Police at Matigara police station have launched an investigation into the incident.
