Siliguri, 13th August: Residents faced severe hardship outside Siliguri Head Post Office on Wednesday night while waiting to get their Aadhaar e-KYC updated.
According to information, a limited number of people are provided Aadhaar e-KYC update services each day. As a result, residents have to register their names in a notebook kept outside the post office gate in advance to avail themselves of the service.
People from different parts of the city began arriving at the post office and registering their names in the notebook from Wednesday afternoon. Many were later seen spending the entire night outside the post office while waiting for it to open in the morning.
Those waiting alleged that if anyone leaves the spot after registering their name in the notebook, their name is removed from the list. As a result, people are compelled to remain there overnight to retain their position in the queue.
Residents said the system is causing considerable inconvenience, particularly for those who have to spend the night outside the post office simply to maintain their place in the queue.
