Phansidewa, 13th July: Continuing its zero-tolerance approach against drug trafficking, the Special Task Force (STF) officials seized brown sugar by intercepting a four-wheeler on NH 27 at Ghoshpukur-Bagdogra stretch in Phansidewa. Two alleged drug traffickers were arrested in connection with the case.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Rajib Sheikh and Rashidul Sheikh, residents of Malda. According to STF sources, the contraband was allegedly being transported from Malda to Siliguri.
Based on information, STF officials conducted an operation and intercepted the vehicle. During a search, 929 grams of brown sugar was recovered from the car, following which the two accused were arrested.
The arrested individuals will be produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court. STF has initiated an investigation to determine where the drug worth crores was being taken and whether more people are involved in the case.
