300 pigs rescued before smuggling near Phansidewa, four arrested 

Phansidewa, 24th February: The police of Phansidewa’s Bidhannagar Investigation Center have arrested four people with 300 pigs before smuggling. The arrested smugglers have been identified as Senthiliraja (40), Hazameden K (58), Tapas Roy (32), and Shambhu Das (42).


Reportedly, based on a tip-off, the police launched a campaign in the Murliganj Check Post and Sadargachh area. During this, the trucks and containers were searched and 300 pigs were rescued from both vehicles. After this, the police arrested four people for failing to provide valid documents.

According to sources, 60 pigs have been rescued from the truck and 240 from the container. The rescued pigs were being smuggled to Assam. The four arrested smugglers have been presented in the Siliguri Divisional Court today.
