3 COVID-19 Care Centers soon to be set up for asymptomatic patients in Siliguri

Siliguri, 20th June: 3 COVID-19 Care Centers will soon be set up in for asymptomatic patients in Siliguri. The initiative has been taken to reduce pressure on the city’s COVID-19 hospitals.


North Bengal COVID-19 OSD Dr Susanta Roy, today, held a meeting in Siliguri’s Uttarkanya with Darjeeling District Magistrate, North Bengal Medical College Hospital (NBMCH) Management and IMA.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Susanta Roy said that 92 percent of the COVID-19 patients are asymptomatic. Therefore, instead of keeping them in the COVID-19 Hospital, the patients will undergo treatment in the above mention COVID-19 Care Centers.


Along with this, Roy condemned several nursing homes who are allegedly referring patients suffering from mild fever and cold to the NBMCH without even providing them with any treatment. He further criticised how the patients are facing social discrimination despite being fully cured. Roy urged to spread awareness among the people from different sections of society in the city.
