2021 WB Assembly Polls: EC holds Review Meeting in Siliguri’s State Guest House with DMs and SPs

Siliguri, 18th December: A team of Election Commission (EC) led by deputy election commissioner Sudeep Jain held a Review Meeting in Siliguri’s State Guest House (Circuit House) in view of the 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections.


The Election Commission held discussion with the Districts Magistrates and Superintendent of Police of the five districts, namely Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar in the said meeting. Besides, Bengal Chief Election Officer Arif Aftab, Director of Technology EC of India Kamal Agarwal, Siliguri Metropolitan Commissioner of Police were also present.


In the 2-hours long meeting, the team discussed the on-ground situation in these 05 districts ahead of next year’s Assembly polls in the state.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Deputy Election Commissioner Sudeep Jain maintained that the team is taking stock of the poll preparedness and holding meetings with bureaucrats and police officials in the state ahead of the Bengal Assembly elections. He added that they are paying close attention to the security system.

Interestingly, the EC team’s visit comes days after a delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) met the Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora, demanding early deployment of central forces in the state to check untoward incidents and political violence before the election.
