Alipurduar, 10th February: A total of 20 vultures have been released from the Rajabhat Khawa breeding centre today by the Buxa Forest Department. Reportedly, 13 White-backed species and 7 Himalayan Griffon species are included.
In order to maintain the balance of the environment, the Bombay Natural History Society took the initiative of breeding vultures that have been extinct from the environment. After this, the vulture breeding project was started in the Rajabhat Khawa forest of the Buxa Forest Department.
It is to be noted, that for the first time in 2019, vultures were released from the Rajabhat Khawa Vulture Breeding Center through caller ID (PTT). After this, the Forest Department kept an eye on their activities. So far, a total of 31 White-backed and other vultures have been released.
