Siliguri, 29th May: A youth has been arrested in connection with an alleged case of misconduct involving a 13-year-old minor, after being identified as a neighbour, triggering tension in the Medical Outpost area under Matigara Police Station limits in Siliguri.
According to police sources, action was taken based on a written complaint filed by the minor’s mother. The complaint states that the accused allegedly attempted to misbehave with the minor when she was alone at home.
After the incident, the minor informed her mother, following which the family lodged a complaint with the police.
Acting on the complaint, Medical Outpost and Matigara Police conducted a preliminary investigation and arrested the accused identified as Harijan Singh.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the POCSO Act. The accused was produced before the Siliguri court on Saturday, and further investigation is underway.
