Siliguri, 23rd October: As the excitement of Durga Puja fades, households across Bengal are preparing to welcome Goddess Lakshmi for Kojagari Lakshmi Puja, seeking wealth and prosperity. Markets are gradually gearing up for the festival, with homemakers and other family members purchasing puja essentials, including naru, moa, murki and other offerings.
Traditionally, families prepared coconut naru, puffed rice moa, murki and other sweets and prasad at home for Lakshmi Puja. However, changing lifestyles and busy schedules have led many people to buy these items ready-made from shops instead.
Meanwhile, clay idol makers are hoping for a rise in sales ahead of the festival. With markets yet to see a significant rush, some artisans remain concerned about the pace of sales. They are optimistic that more customers will arrive at the last minute, particularly on the day before the puja.
As preparations gather pace, shopping for puja essentials and idols is expected to add to the festive atmosphere following Durga Puja. Traders and local residents alike are looking forward to a stronger market rush as Kojagari Lakshmi Puja approaches.
