Siliguri, 23rd October: With Durga Puja celebrations over, organisers have begun preparations for Shyama Puja, also known as Kali Puja. On Friday, Hindu Suraksha Samiti performed the ‘Khutti Puja’ for its third Shyama Puja at the Vidyasagar School ground in Baghajatin Colony, Pradhan Nagar, Siliguri.
Last year, the puja committee drew attention with pandal decorations based on INS Vikrant and the Indian Air Force. This year, the main attraction will be a pandal designed in the style of the famous Amarnath Temple in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the organisers, the grand pandal will be created by a renowned, award-winning artist. The decoration of Goddess Kali’s idol will also feature special attractions. The puja is scheduled to be inaugurated on 7th November, with several distinguished guests expected to attend.
Another major attraction will be an LED screen inside the pandal, displaying various events associated with the Amarnath pilgrimage. Through video presentations, the organisers plan to highlight the safety of pilgrims along the pilgrimage route, incidents from the past, and the role of central security forces in protecting devotees.
The initiative aims to familiarise visitors with the history of the Amarnath pilgrimage and important aspects of pilgrim safety.
