Bagdogra, 18th November: In a significant breakthrough, the Bagdogra Forest Department apprehended two individuals with a huge quantity of wooden furniture from the roof of a passenger bus bound for Siliguri from Kolkata.
According to reports, On Saturday, the Forest Department launched a tip-off operation and stopped a bus on the National Highway (NH) 31 in Bagdogra. During the search, wooden furniture worth lakhs of rupees was recovered from the rooftop carrier of the bus. Following this, the forest department detained the driver and co-driver upon failure to provide valid documents.
In this regard, ADFO of Kurseong Division Bhupen Vishwakarma stated that acting on a tip-off, a huge quantity of wooden furniture has been seized with an estimated value of lakhs of rupees. Later both the accused were released after signing a personal bond. At present, the Forest Department is investigating the entire matter.
