Siliguri, 21st February: In a recent development, the in-laws of a woman have been accused of murder after she was found hanging at her home in Siliguri’s Kawakhali. The deceased woman has been identified as Rakhi Das (26).
According to family sources, about six years ago, Rakhi, a resident of Ganga Nagar in Ward No. 5, was married to Rahul Das, a resident of Kawakhali, and has a five-year-old son. A few years after marriage, Rahul allegedly began pressuring his wife to buy a Bullet bike, prompting a dispute.
Reportedly, on Tuesday evening, Rakhi’s body was found hanging in her house. Subsequently, the in-laws took her to the medical college where the doctor declared her dead. After the incident, the deceased’s mother filed a written complaint at the Medical Outpost accusing the in-laws of murdering her daughter.
In this regard, the mother of the deceased alleged that her son-in-law and other in-laws were pressurizing Rakhi to buy a Bullet bike. She stated that her daughter had narrated the issue at around 5 p.m. However, an hour later, her mother-in-law called and stated that Rakhi had committed suicide. Furthermore, she claimed the incident to be a murder.
Meanwhile, Rahul, the husband of the deceased termed the murder allegation as false, while stating being at work at the time of the incident. He added that he was alerted about the incident over the phone. Furthermore, he accused Rakhi’s parents for his wife’s death.
