Woman killed from snake bite on her way to Rath Yatra in Siliguri

Siliguri, 08th July: 25-year-old Yamuna Sutradar tragically lost her life after being bitten by a venomous snake while preparing to attend the Rath Yatra fair. The incident took place in the Neechpara of Jyotirmoy Colony, Ward No. 32 of Siliguri.


According to reports, Yamuna was getting ready at her home on Sunday to participate in the Rath Yatra fair when a poisonous snake bit her. Alerted by her cries, her family members rushed her to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for treatment. However, Yamuna succumbed to the snakebite during the course of treatment.

The incident has left the entire area in an atmosphere of mourning. Meanwhile, her family members have expressed anger, alleging negligence in medical attention responsible for Yamuna’s death.
