Woman found dead at a rented accommodation in Siliguri, investigation underway

Siliguri, 04th September: A young woman was found dead inside a locked room at a rented house in Baghajotin Colony under Ward No. 2 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, triggering concern in the area. The deceased has been identified as Tshering Doma Bhutia, a resident of Sikkim who worked at a parlour in Siliguri.

According to police, the woman lived in a rented house in Baghajatin Colony. On Thursday night, Pradhan Nagar Police received information that the door of her room had remained closed for a long time. Police reached the spot and, after receiving no response from inside, broke open the door and found the woman hanging inside the room.

Police brought her down and took her to Siliguri District Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Her family members also reached the hospital after receiving the information.

Following the necessary legal procedures, the body was sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem examination.

The preliminary police investigation suggests that the case may be one of suicide. However, the exact cause of death will be clear only after the post-mortem report. Police are investigating all aspects of the incident.
