Siliguri, 04th September: Following the earlier clash between AIDSO and ABVP over first-year admissions at North Bengal Medical College, AIDSO members have once again alleged that they were assaulted. Protesting the incident, AIDSO organised a rally and protest meeting in Siliguri on Friday.
According to AIDSO, Dr Apurba Mondal, a member of the AIDSO state committee, and Dr Ramchandra Sharma, vice-president of the AIDSO North Bengal Medical College unit, were allegedly assaulted by members of the BJP and ABVP on Thursday. Mondal reportedly sustained a head injury in the incident.
Mondal alleged that he and Sharma were sitting at a shop outside the medical college when around 40 people arrived and identified themselves as ABVP members. He alleged that they were subsequently threatened and assaulted, and that the incident took place in the presence of police.
