Siliguri, 04th September: A store manager who had allegedly been absconding for around eight months has been arrested by Panitanki Outpost police in Siliguri in connection with the alleged theft of ₹2.92 lakh in cash and two iPhones from a shop. The accused has been identified as 35-year-old Hiranmay Sarkar.
According to police, Sarkar was arrested from the Tinbatti More area on Thursday night. He was reportedly employed as a store manager at an electronics shop.
After cash and two iPhones went missing from the shop, a complaint was lodged against him at Panitanki Outpost. Following the complaint, police had been searching for the accused, who allegedly remained absconding for around eight months.
After his arrest, the accused was produced before the Siliguri court, where police sought his remand for questioning. Police will now interrogate him to recover the allegedly stolen cash and both iPhones.
