Alipurduar, 03rd September: An unexpected wild elephant attack in the Meghnath Saha Nagar area of Madarihat resulted in the destruction of the harvested paddy crop.
According to reports, On Saturday night, a wild elephant from Jaldapara National Park attacked the residential area and also destroyed half a bigha of paddy plantation of Gautam Mangar, a resident of Meghnath Saha Nagar in Madarihat. Following this, the forest department was immediately notified. Upon receiving the information, the authorities of the Jaldapara Forest Department hurried to the scene and dispatched the elephant deep into the forest.
According to the impacted farmer Gautam Mangar, farming has become comparatively challenging due to the frequent elephant invasions and attacks in the area.
