Siliguri, 07th May: Police have traced the number plate of a vehicle allegedly used in the murder of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari’s close aide to Siliguri, prompting swift action by investigators.
Based on CCTV footage, police tracked the vehicle registration details and reached the owner, a Siliguri resident, who was called to the police station for questioning late at night.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the vehicle owner had posted an advertisement on OLX to sell the car. Police suspect that the vehicle number plate may have been copied from the online listing and later used in the crime.
Investigators also found that the original vehicle linked to the registration number was still parked at the owner’s residence. After verifying all documents and the online advertisement details, police allowed the owner to leave.
Police from Matigara Police Station initiated the inquiry after the Siliguri connection emerged through RTO records. Further investigations into the case is currently underway.
